The Maungatautari Ecological Society, an ecological project of International acclaim, is a 10 minute drive from Hazelbank House.  The entrance from the Pukeatua side of the mountain is a 45 minute drive through picturesque Waikato Country side.

Visit the Maungakawa Reserve, the old site of the Sanitorium with a magic view of the district and watch and listen to the Tuis.  Take a walk through the native bush.

Take a stroll around Te Koutu Lake, a natural amphitheatre, which is situated in the town Centre below the scenic gardens and greens of the Cambridge Domain.


Cambridge has 17 Golf Courses within 30 minutes drive from Hazelbank House.  Three of them are within 10 minutes drive.  

Horse Country

foal Cambridge is internationally known for its equine industry.  There are many Thoroughbred and Standard bred Studs and training establishments in Cambridge.  Spend a night at the Cambridge raceway watching the Trots (Standard bred Racing) and Greyhound racing.  Ask us for Race night dates or check out the Cambridge Raceway website.

Lakes and Rivers

Lake Karapiro is a world class water sport venue for rowing, water ski-ing, power boats, Kayaking, hydroplanes and yachting.  Lake Karapiro hosted the World rowing Championships in 2010.

Book a lunch or dinner cruise on the Karapiro Cruiser or for a less leisurely time take a Jet Boat Tour on the Waikato River.  The Waikato river is the longest river (420km) in New Zealand.
